It's been a while since there were any World Cup qualifiers played out here in Southern California and suddenly it looks as if we'll get two in possibly a week.
The U.S.-Barbados qualifier is scheduled for June 15 at Home Depot Center but that may not be the only qualifier out here. Belize officials have narrowed down hosting their home leg against Mexico to either Houston or Los Angeles. If the latter is chosen, the match could draw a sizable crowd. The only problem is that the game is scheduled for June 15 as well. Unfortunately, I don't see the logistics happening for that game to be played in LA.

It could happen - if the Mexico game was at the Rose Bowl or the Coliseum, no?
Or a double-header at the HDC? Wishful thinking perhaps, but that would also be cool.
Yeah, I suppose. I just don't know if there would be some rule opposing two qualifiers being played on the same day in such close proximity. I don't think the US would go for a doubleheader including Mexico since you'd get a sellout anti-US crowd.
Is Belize nuts? Don't they realize that playing at the HDC would gurantee the Mexican team home field advantge. Why not just toss in the towel or just play in Mexico?
El rey, b/c Belize would get a great pay day out of it, that's why.

BTW, there are almost as many Belizians in LA there are in Belize, so it's as close to a home game as they get outside Belmopan.
