What did Landon say?

Right now, your guess is as good as mine. Landon didn't appear in the post-game press event, though he scored twice. He was hustled off to some pre-arranged appearance, so no reporters were able to ask him what he said to Pat Ianni.
There's a Landon quote in my espn.com piece because a Galaxy press official recorded a couple of statements on the game from Landon before he left.
So what is that best guess that people have on what he said? I'm curious as to who might figure it out. I'll ask Landon about it when I can.

  1. One person said he thought he heard Donovan yell "dont ever effing call me again!" Whatever you want that to mean.

  2. Doesnt really matter what he said, he should have been carded. the refs really seem to give him a free pass with his bitching and moaning, its really become a bit ridiculous. just shut and play, he is plenty good without all the other bs.

  3. makes more sense "don't effing foul me again" as for whether it was a card-able offense or not - i think you're reaching looking for one there. players get in each others faces all the time with no action from the ref.

as for the free pass comment. give me a break, he gets elbowed by ianni and the ref motions for him to get up.

  4. I know that Ianni's parents were in a lux. box 112 to be exact(my tix are right below it) so i think he said "I sure your mom is proud of you..." or smoething like that... still not as good as his shush and "game over" to the dallas crowd last year but i love his intensity

  5. If everyone on the field shut up and played the whole time, wouldn't the games be rather emotionless?

  6. But Andrea, I would hope that you agree there are and have to be limits.

When Materazzi kept calling Zidane's sister a whore until Zidane finally turned on him a earned a deserved red card, FIFA decided Materazzi had also crossed the line. Too late, of course, as the game had already in some senses been spoiled.

Some banter/smack talk is inevitable in competitive sports, but it's not something that should/needs to be encouraged.

  7. After Ianni knocked the crap out of him on the earlier challenge, I hope Landon said lots of interesting things to Ianni after schooling him. He probably did say "don't effing foul me again."

And Josh says it doesn't matter what he said, he should have been carded. Interesting.

  8. Honestly, sometimes its a cultural thing. Of course there should be limits, but they get stretched differently in different situations. There's a lot of smack talk in basketball, for example. There isn't much in golf. Where the line in soccer falls probably depends a lot on your personal viewpoint.

  9. I remember reading his lips and thinking he said dont &*^ call me again. Was pretty clearly a hard k word not f. Could really mean anything, but perhaps Ianni called him to get tickets/US advice... or the like.
