Apparently, all's quiet on Chivas USA's front. With an opportunity to bring players in to help boost the squad heading into the stretch drive, Chivas USA has done little. They've tried and have looked at some players but nothing substantial has come of it.
Sorry, but Sueno MLS winner Jorge Flores doesn't count. He signed today in a move that will have no impact on anything of significance this year.
l.b.,
ReplyDeleteI heard through ESPN Deportes radio that Chivas USA was exploring the possibility of adding a high profile player for their DP slot. Were these just rumors? If not, would you happen to know what players they were talking to and why it didn't work out?
I just can't believe that Vergara will just sit still and let the Galaxy get all the spotlight. He is used to always being the protagonist. Maybe he's waiting to make his move later but who knows. Maybe he is regretting puting his franchise in L.A. I can't possibly see how they're making money.
El Chueco
They don't have a DP slot so they won't be able to break the bank on anyone.
ReplyDeleteThey may still add someone but the more time passes, the less likely that seems.
they don't have a DP slot? I thought all MLS teams did? How does that work?
ReplyDeleteEl Chueco
Each team has a DP slot but you can trade it, and Chivas traded theirs to New York for Amado Guevara. So Chivas would have to trade for another team's DP slot to get a high-salaried player.
ReplyDeleteYou would think Chivas USA would have been in a position to really take advantage of a DP slot more so than a lot of teams. Getting rid of that DP spot as to considered the worst trade in MLS history. In theory that DP could have been any Mexican player.
ReplyDeleteRamon Nunez is available if you want a playmaker to fill Guevara's void...
ReplyDeleteRamon Nunez is a very underrated player! The problem with him though seems to be that he doesn't like to pass the ball...
ReplyDeleteHe's a ball-hog.
Hey LB: whats up with this Sueno MLS winner/kid? Is he for real or is this just a cheap marketing stunt. If he is legit as his signing indicates he has to be considered a huge story along the lines of Vinny Papali.
ReplyDeleteHe's for real, in that the team thinks he can offer them something in the future. He's 17 or 18 I think so the team doesn't really have much to lose if he doesn't pay off.
ReplyDeleteHe's got some skills and might develop into something decent but he might have been able to play in college somewhere.
He's American too. He was born in Anaheim or somewhere around there but spent his childhood in Guanajuato, Mexico.

ReplyDeleteAhh ... where have you been?
