Honestly, I think Blanco is going to be such a great piece to Chicago I could see them seriously challenging for the Eastern crown by season's end.
He is influential and is playing at a very high level. The guy just knows how to play soccer. Say what you will about him being a villain or hated or whatever but he is just a top-notch soccer player. He has won me over with his play on the field this season more than any because I really think he had a lot to prove this year and I think he's gone to great lengths to justify his recall to the national team and his move to MLS.
If I'm a Fire fan, I'd be grinning from ear to ear knowing he's joining my team.
Don't get me wrong, I'm pleased that Blanco is coming to the MLS and he is without a doubt a great player. Chicago's problems aren't at midfield though, they seem to have an overabundance of midfielders and are short on defenders and forwards.
Another thing, why the sudden rush by the MLS to buy all these big name foreigners? Are they getting a little desperate for growth and revenues, or is the league already growing financially and they can take on these new bigger contracts?
How much is Blanco going to really help the Fire? They seem very strong and deep at midfield but weak up front and in the back.
